Privacy Policy

PipRank is a free backgammon game for the web and Android. This policy explains what information PipRank handles, why, and the choices you have. It is short because we collect very little.

In short: PipRank shows no ads, has no real-money play, wagers or gambling, and never sells your data or shares it for advertising.

Playing without an account

You can play against the computer, play pass and play, and use the lessons without signing in. Your settings and offline progress are stored only on your device (in the app's storage or your browser's storage) and are not sent to us.

Information we collect when you sign in

Online play uses an account. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, using either an email address and password or your Google account. When you sign in we store:

Account details: your account ID, email address and display name. Your password is handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store it.
Profile: the display name, avatar and optional country you choose, and your profile and table options (for example table chat on or off, public profile, sound and reduced motion).
Game data: your ratings, game history and results, and the moves of the online games you play.
Table chat and safety: messages you send to human opponents during a game, and any mute, block or report you make. A report keeps the reported messages so it can be reviewed.

How we use it

To run your account, match you with opponents, keep your rating and history, and show your profile to other players if you make it public.
To keep games fair and players safe, including reviewing reports of abuse or cheating.
To keep the service secure and working.

We do not use your information for advertising and do not build advertising profiles.

Where it is stored

Account and game data are stored with Google Firebase and Google Cloud services in the operator's own project. Google processes this data on our behalf as a service provider. Data may be processed in countries other than your own.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for advertising. Other players see what the game shows them: your display name, avatar and rating and, if you choose, your country and public profile. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and game data while your account exists. You can change your display name, country and privacy options at any time in the app under Settings and your profile. To delete your account and its data, contact us using the details below and we will delete it, except anything we must keep to meet a legal obligation.

Children

PipRank is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Connections to our services use HTTPS, and access to stored data is limited to the services that need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
